Guide for Young Scientists Forum Presentations

 

Important: Paper, poster, and YSF presenters must pre-register to be included in the final scientific program.

 

 

  1. Length of talk: Maximum of 17 minutes. With proper warning, the talk will be cut short when the time allotted has elapsed. A typical presentation requires one minute per slide.
  2. Audio visual method: For LCD, please leave a copy of your file at the registration desk by 10 am of the second day of the convention.
  3. Contents:
    1. title
    2. authors (with presentor's name underlined; mentor’s name must be included)
    3. affiliations with addresses (referenced to authors)
    4. introduction (background, significance, objectives)
    5. methodology
    6. results & discussion
    7. conclusions & recommendations or future directions
    8. references
    9. acknowledgements, including funding agencies
    10. graphs and figures with informative captions
  4. Format and font size: Keep slides simple or not too busy; text and figures must be readable from a distance. A maximum of 7-10 lines of text per slide is a good figure to aim for.
  5. Open forum: Questions for the different speakers in a session will be asked during the open forum before the session ends.
  6. Schedule of YSF Presentations: The YSF will be held on the afternoon of the second day of the convention. The tentative schedule will be posted on the web, which can change as we come closer to the convention.
