WELCOME TO PSBMB49

As we enter the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are slowly learning to live with the SARS-CoV-2 virus armed with new knowledge brought about by recent discoveries especially in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. Now more than ever, we realize the importance of policies and action plans grounded on solid scientific evidence.

The Philippine Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PSBMB), through its national conventions, provides a great avenue for scientists, educators, policy makers, and industry players all over the country and even beyond our borders to engage through sharing of science-based information.

This is the third year that PSBMB will go virtual for its convention, which provides great opportunity for greater participation to include speakers and participants even from abroad to join our scientific sessions in real time.

For its 49th National Convention, PSBMB goes to the Land of Promise—Mindanao! The Society thanks its Mindanao Chapter through its President, Dr. Reggie de la Cruz, and the Local Organizing Committee for showcasing the region as well as its wealth of biochemists and molecular biologists.

We invite our participants to listen to our speakers and to visit our poster and exhibit halls in the conference to discover new information and approaches in health, agri-fisheries, biotechnology, data science, and biochemistry and molecular biology education. We also hope that we can conduct scientific exchange and forge partnerships involving various stakeholders.

Daghang salamat!

Prof. Ian Kendrich C. Fontanilla, PhD

Convention Chair

Among the highlights of PSBMB annual conventions are the plenary and parallel sessions by renowned researchers and academicians presenting the latest findings of their research in the areas of Agri-fisheries, Molecular Systematics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Environment and Biodiversity, Health and Wellness, Bioentrepreneurship and Biochemical Education. The convention also features the Clara Lim-Sylianco (CLS) Lecture and a competition for undergraduate research projects, the Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF). The conventions are great venues for researchers, faculty, aspiring young scientists and students to meet, discuss and build collaborations with the experts which will broaden and deepen our current knowledge on the advances in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
